Refine Your Ceramic Practice with Theme-Based Projects — Vesterbro Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Copenhagen

This course is for those who have completed a basic ceramics course and want to develop their practice further. Teaching is built around theme-based projects, where each theme - such as botanical forms, architectural elements, or abstract design - serves as the starting point for your own work. Before each session, you prepare inspiration materials: sketches, photographs, found objects, or mood boards.

Throughout the course you work on cohesive projects that strengthen both technical skill and personal artistic voice. You will also be introduced to more advanced techniques such as plaster mold-making and slip casting. The course prioritizes quality and professional development over quantity.

You have 8 kilos of clay available; up to 2 additional kilos can be purchased at the studio. The course fee covers instruction and materials, and participants are expected to contribute to cleaning and maintaining the studio.

Teaching is led by ceramicist Manuel Canu, who has many years of experience with sculptural ceramics and has exhibited internationally. He runs a ceramic studio and gallery in Copenhagen in collaboration with other artists, and teaching is tailored to each participant.
