Debut Fest: Family Performances
Kildevæld Kulturcenter, Copenhagen · Free
Thea Tønnesvang stages herself as a housewife, drunk uncle, and uncertain confirmand while mapping her own (divorced) family through role-play and character work. The starting point is archetypal family roles and the objects that typically stand on the mantelpiece: dollhouse furniture, trinkets, and miniatures, which she has photographed and used to build a playful portrait of herself and her family.
The result is 22 collages on glass and framed works, plus a video work that moves in the borderland between documentary, fiction, and revue. The works circle around the broken nuclear family - both the roles that actually existed and those that never came to be.
