Writing Workshop: Memories as a Writing Tool — Christianshavns Bibliotek, Copenhagen
Free entry

Memories can be used as a writing tool - not only in memoirs, but also to create powerful scenes in short stories and novels. In this workshop, participants work with different strategies and techniques for writing about what we cannot forget.

The instructor is Maja Lucas, author of several literary works - most recently 'Tennisdigte' (2026) - and holds a PhD in literary studies. The workshop lasts two hours and alternates between presentations and writing exercises. It is aimed at adults, free of charge, and requires registration via Billetto.

No computers are provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen. Desk space is very limited, and you will likely need to balance your computer or paper on your lap - a writing board for your notepad can be borrowed. On the 4th floor there is a water station and a coffee machine, but feel free to bring your own water bottle. The workshop takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavn Main Library. From the entrance, follow the wall on your right through the library space and turn at the first corner - Othello is a side room along the right wall. Questions can be directed to literature coordinator Poul-Louis at i343@kk.dk.

Copenhagen Libraries arranges individual writing workshops throughout the city each month with varying themes and instructors.
