Writing Workshop: Get Started with Your Children's Book

Prize-winning children's author Rebecca Bach-Lauritsen leads a two-hour writing workshop based on her book about writing for children, "When I Become Small Again". Through writing exercises and presentations, you'll get help getting started with your own children's book.

Rebecca Bach-Lauritsen explains her motivation like this: "When people hear that I'm a children's author, they so often say: 'I've always wanted to write a children's book.' As if it's just something you do." In 2026, she received a three-year work grant from the Danish Arts Foundation in literature.

The workshop is a one-off event. Copenhagen Libraries arranges similar workshops every month at libraries around the city - themes and instructors vary from time to time.

The workshop takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavn Library. From the entrance, follow the wall on your right through the library space and turn at the first corner - Othello is a side room along the right wall.
