Writing Workshop: The Importance of Sensory Details in Writing

This workshop places sensory details at the centre - as a foundation for describing characters and settings in texts. We explore how to work with sensory details, what they mean for your writing, and why this work is ultimately about emotions. You will take home concrete tools.

The workshop is led by Pablo Llambías, an author published by Gyldendal. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Film and Media at the University of Copenhagen, and the Jutland Music Conservatory. He has taught writing since 2000 at the Writers' School, universities, and folk high schools. He is currently a senior lecturer in text at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory in Copenhagen and teaches and leads a writers' group at the Centre for Art and Mental Health in Copenhagen.

The event is free but requires registration via Billetto and is aimed at adults. It takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavn Library - follow the right wall through the library space and turn at the first corner; Othello is a side room. Seating is very limited, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen, as you will likely need them in your lap. The library provides writing boards as underlays. There is a coffee machine in the library; you may bring your own beverages. The library is accessible by stairs and lift.

Copenhagen Libraries holds writing workshops throughout the city each month with changing themes and instructors. Each workshop is a standalone two-hour session with a presentation and writing exercises - not a course series.
