Writing Workshop: Creating Drama in Dialogue

This workshop gives you concrete tools to write dialogue with punch - without filler. You'll work with the power of subtext and methods from theatre, so your scenes come alive whether you're writing for theatre, film, or books. The session includes exercises and readings aloud, and everyone is welcome.

The instructor is Marie Louise Cornelius, author, theatre and film director, actor, and audiobook narrator. She has written the feel-good series Hjerteblink as well as Mellem lys og skygge and Bag facaden af Glas - a historical family romance series about women's liberation, film history, and cultural and technological development in the 20th century. She has also taught both adults and children to write.

This event is part of Copenhagen Public Library's monthly writing workshops - standalone two-hour sessions with presentations and writing exercises. It takes place in the Othello room at Christianshavn Library and is aimed at adults. Participation is free but requires registration on Billetto.

No computers are provided, so bring your own and/or paper and pen. Desk space is very limited, and you'll likely need to balance your computer or paper on your lap - a writing board is offered as a base. On the 4th floor there is a water station and a coffee machine; feel free to bring your own water bottle. From the library entrance, find Othello by following the wall on your right through the library space and turning at the first corner - the room is a side room along the right wall.
