Mozart composed his C Minor Mass in 1782-83 at age 24-25, newly married and establishing himself as an independent artist in Vienna. Legend has it that he had promised God - or his father - to write a great mass if his marriage to Constance would be blessed. It was, and the mass received its premiere in 1783, still incomplete, with Constance herself as soloist.

The soprano aria "Et incarnatus est" is considered one of Mozart's most beautiful moments, featuring a trio for flute, oboe and bassoon.

Conductor is Vincenzo Milletari. The soloists are Frederikke Kampmann (soprano), Nadine Koutcher (soprano) and Ian Marcus Bjørsvik (tenor) - bass to be announced later. The choir consists of Filharmonisk Kor & Vor Frue Cantori.

About the venue: Koncertsalen Alsion

Koncertsalen Alsion in Sønderborg is the main concert hall for the whole of Southern Jutland, with seating for up to 988 guests. The programme ranges from classical music and opera to stand-up, comedy and lectures, with Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester as a regular resident ensemble. The hall is constructed as two concrete shells, one inside the other, keeping outside noise at bay and giving it acoustics that performers consistently praise. The 20-metre-wide stage can be adjusted hydraulically to depths of 6, 9 or 12 metres.

Nadine Koutcher is a Belarusian soprano known for her pure, lyrical tone. She has performed on major European opera stages and in concert halls, and has worked closely with conductor Teodor Currentzis. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to Romantic, with a particular affinity for Mozart and Russian vocal music.
