Writing Workshop: Using Visual Art as Writing
Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen · Free
This workshop draws on works by Georgia O'Keeffe, Karoline Ebbesen, Noah Kanber, and Lea Guldditte. Author and visual artist Sidsel Ana Welden Gajardo demonstrates how to draw on artistic techniques, perspective, bodily sensation, and sculptural elements to open up your writing language. The idea is to leave the static writing position, sense with your whole body, and return to paper with new images and a more spatial understanding of text - treating text as a three-dimensional space.
Sidsel Ana Welden Gajardo published the novel "Du er min arv" in 2023 and works continuously at the intersection of literature and visual art.
The workshop is free but requires registration via Billetto. It is aimed at adults and takes place physically at Copenhagen's Main Library, 4th floor. Computers are not provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen. Desk space is very limited - you will likely need to sit with your computer or paper in your lap, but writing boards can be borrowed. On the 4th floor there is a water station and a coffee machine; other refreshments should be brought yourself.
The 4th floor is reached from the Central Hall (entrance from Krystalgade) by elevator or stairs to the right, or via escalators to the 3rd floor and then stairs to the right. Questions can be sent to literature coordinator Poul-Louis at i343@kk.dk.
