Writing Workshop: Write Within Systems
Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen · Free
Author and translator Lee Langvad (b. 1980) leads this two-hour workshop exploring the formal systems and structures that shape his/her own books. The session alternates between short talks, writing exercises, and feedback designed to push your writing in new directions.
Langvad debuted in 2006 with the poetry collection 'Find Holger Danske' and published in 2014 'Hun er vred' - A Testimony on Transnational Adoption. His/her most recent novel, 'Tolk', explores family relations, language barriers, and queerness, and won Montana's Literature Prize. Among his/her translations are 'The Autobiography of Death' by Kim Hyesoon and 'Questionnaires' by Max Frisch.
The workshop is free but requires registration via Billetto. No computers are provided, so bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - desk space is limited and you may need to work with materials in your lap. The library provides writing boards as support. On the 4th floor there is a water station and coffee machine, but no other refreshments, so bring a water bottle or flask.
The workshop takes place in room LIVE on the 4th floor of Hovedbiblioteket. From the main entrance on Krystalgade, take the elevator or stairs to the right in the Central Hall - alternatively, use the escalators to the 3rd floor and then the stairs to the right up to the 4th floor, where the stage area is located to the right. Questions can be sent to literature coordinator Poul-Louis at i343@kk.dk.
Writing workshops at Copenhagen Libraries are monthly standalone events with changing themes and instructors at libraries throughout the city.
