Writing Workshop: The Power, Destruction and Symbiosis of Friendship
Hovedbiblioteket, Copenhagen · Free
Two authors with friendship as a shared theme lead this workshop: Sidsel Ana Welden Gajardo and Sigrid Adamsson are close friends themselves and have both written novels exploring intimate relationships. They begin with a presentation on literature that examines care between people - how it can liberate or burden, create fusion or distance.
Afterwards, participants write themselves (or put pen to paper). The starting point is relationships where the most is at stake - material that can be difficult to approach, but which precisely for that reason holds potential for original stories and characters. No writing experience is required.
The workshop is free but requires registration via Billetto. It is aimed at adults and takes place at Copenhagen's Main Library, 4th floor, as a physical event. Bring your own laptop and/or paper and pen - desk space is very limited, so you will likely need to work with it in your lap. A writing board will be provided. The floor has a water station and coffee machine, but no other refreshments, so bring a water bottle if you like.
About the instructors
Sigrid Adamsson has worked as an editor and writer since 2016, most recently as a literature critic at Politiken. She holds a cand.mag. in literary studies from the University of Copenhagen (2020) and an M.A. in cultural journalism from Columbia University (2026). Skyerne is her debut novel.
Sidsel Ana Welden Gajardo is an author and visual artist. She published the novel Du er min arv in 2023 and often works across both art forms.
How to find the 4th floor
From the main entrance on Krystalgade, you can take the elevator or the stairs to the right in the Central Hall. Alternatively, you can follow the escalators up to the 3rd floor and from there take the stairs to the right up to the 4th floor. The stage area is to the right when you arrive at the floor.
