History Club on Amager: Denmark's First Female Criminal Detective

Ellen Saltø was renowned for her exceptional ability to interview children and young girls in morality cases - an area where her male colleagues often failed. She played a central role in the cases of Dagmar Overby and the Damhus murder, helped solve a serial offender on Amager Fælled, and received the Knight's Cross in 1952 for her work.

Lecturer Frode Z. Olsen is a former criminal inspector who published the book "Ellen Jensen-Saltø - Denmark's First Female Criminal Detective" in 2025. He tells the story of a pioneer who paved the way for women's equality in the police force during a time marked by major social changes, brutality, and poverty.

The event takes place in Bryggekælderen and is open to all. History Club on Amager is run jointly by Kvarterhuset, Islands Brygge Library, and Sundby Library.
