Music Therapy: Good Night Music for Sleepless Nights
Trekanten - Bibliotek og Kulturhus, Aalborg
Sleep problems affect quality of life and reduce energy and work capacity for many. Sleep medication comes with side effects, but music listening is a research-based alternative - side-effect-free and accessible. But which music works, and how long should it play?
The lecture explores the theory behind music as sleep support and provides concrete examples of how music can promote downregulation and relaxation. You will gain insight into the principles for selecting sleep-inducing music and new knowledge from research on calming sounds.
In addition, practical tools are presented that you can use immediately - including the app MusicStar, which was developed in psychiatry and has been in use for many years. The app is free and available to everyone.
Lecturer: Helle Nystrup Lund, Ph.D. in music therapy, Aalborg University Hospital. Arranged by Folkeuniversitetet Aalborg.
