SISYFOS - A Rolling Play

Under the H.C. Andersen Festival, Teater Momentum opens its professional stages to emerging young artists. Four carefully selected emerging-artist groups present works rooted in powerful storytelling. These productions are created by young artists committed to developing their craft in theatre and performance. Through De Unge Mønsterbrydere, the festival and Momentum continue an important tradition of serving as a development platform that supports and showcases emerging talent in theatre and dance.

About the production: Welcome to Hades! The place... not the god. In SISYFOS - A ROLLING PLAY, we encounter the famous myth retold by the man himself. A story of power hunger, toxic masculinity, and lack of self-awareness. Sisyphus, famous for pushing his stone up a mountain again and again, has a lesser-known past marked by egocentric misdeeds. Alongside Sisyphus' eternal push toward the summit, we meet the man behind it-a particular type of man we also recognize from everyday life today, who has claimed an ever-growing presence online, dwelling in the internet's many echo chambers. Sisyphus likewise shouts triumphantly into the ether, turning the ancient underworld into his platform. But what feelings lie behind Sisyphus' cries? Ask yourselves: "Do we feel sorry for Sisyphus?"
