Unbound - David Carson

Join us at the Royal Danish Academy as we kick off the Unbound 2026/27 season with graphic design legend David Carson. The self-taught, grid-free designer will share his revolutionary work, his unbound creative process, and his personal perspective on graphic design through a talk and Q&A session.

David Carson has transformed the field of graphic design throughout his career. His work on Ray Gun magazine and Transworld Skateboarding proved that editorial layouts didn't need to follow conventional rules about image placement, typography, or copy flow. His influence extends across branding, surfboard design, packaging, and more-making him as relevant today as ever.

Recognized by the American Center for Graphic Design as having created "the most important work coming out of America" and called "the art director of the era" by Creative Review, Carson received the AIGA Gold Medal in 2014. This is a rare opportunity to meet one of the world's most influential and revolutionary graphic designers.
