Cumbiasound is not just a cumbia band. It is a living and constantly evolving musical project born in 2010 on a sun-drenched street in La Dorada, Colombia. Swedish producer and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Fridell and his Colombian wife were eating ice cream when speakers from a nearby supermarket suddenly filled the street with funky Colombian rhythms. That moment started Cumbiasound. The vision was to unite Colombian cumbia with jazz, reggae, funk, afrobeat and cosmic soundscapes. A musical bridge between Africa and South America, driven by love and shared rhythms. Their early tracks quickly gained attention in Mexico's digital underground scene, leading to their debut release Calzones Largos in 2011 with Chilean rapper Boogie Castillo, whom Daniel had worked with since their hip-hop days in the 1990s. Together they created a unique blend of raw rap and psychedelic cumbia rhythms. Over the years, Cumbiasound has evolved into a flexible and borderless collective. Today Cumbiasound is a global musical force moving through Afro-Latin rhythms, psychedelic soundscapes and cross-cultural collaborations. The core consists of Daniel, Boogie, Lis and José, backed by a strong live band that transforms every concert into a living dance floor.
MAMBE: Mambe is a Colombian singer, rapper, songwriter and activist. She leads a project that resists categorization - the music draws on Latin American roots, global bass and Scandinavian influences.
