Space is often associated with stars, planets, and great discoveries. The infinite universe can feel mysterious, even magical, and sometimes completely disconnected from our everyday lives. But today, space and its technology are absolutely crucial to our lives on Earth's surface. With growing security challenges in the Arctic and the Baltic Sea, space technology has rarely been more relevant - from monitoring vast ocean areas to communications and navigation.

How do you monitor thousands of kilometers of sea? How do you detect activity in the Arctic? What role do satellites play when authorities and the military must make decisions? These questions - and many more - will be the focus of tonight's lectures. Andreas Mogensen will begin with his experiences from space, followed by Signe Ravn-Højgaard explaining Denmark's satellite infrastructure. Jakob Clod Asmund from FAK will then present how the military uses satellites, navigation, and communications. Finally, companies GomSpace, ICEYE, Systematic, and Space Inventor will share how their space technologies are applied in defense and security.
