Hymns from Nineveh (solo) at Højvangen Kirke
Experience Jonas H. Petersen, the artist behind Hymns from Nineveh, performing solo at Højvangen Kirke - Denmark's newest church, located in Skanderborg. Since his debut album in 2011, which was named Album of the Year by GAFFA, Petersen has captivated critics and audiences alike.
He first made his mark with four albums of English-language hymns and major P3 hits like "Anywhere with You" and "A Kid on the Beach". In 2020, he switched to writing in Danish with the lockdown album "Sindets Asyl" and later the year-round Christmas album "Julekassen", proving his mastery of the Danish language through sensitive, existential pop songs such as "Stop Loss", "Kastanjer", and "Stråle-Tåre-Dråbe".
Now Hymns from Nineveh returns with new Danish songs, written during an extended sick leave from depression last year - songs that shine with faith, hope, and love. On the first single, "Inter Flora", hope triumphs over hopelessness in a touching story about something as simple as a bouquet of flowers delivered to your door.
Højvangen Kirke, inaugurated in 2024, is Denmark's newest church. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects, it is a work of art in itself, located at Mallinggårdsvej 3, 8660 Skanderborg.
