Do Video Games Make Us Violent?
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · 50 kr. · ≈ 7 €
Video games can make us angry, frustrated, and completely absorbed - but do they also make us more violent? Psychologist and researcher Anne Fiskaali investigates the question based on research and examples from Grand Theft Auto, Tetris, and online gaming, examining what games actually do to our emotions, behaviour, and social relationships.
The lecture explores questions that have shaped the debate for decades: Are violent games dangerous? Why do we shout at the screen? And what happens to us when we fail again and again? The last question may be more about difficulty level than violent content.
The event is part of Folkeuniversitetet's knowledge festival Hearts & Minds and takes place in the Small Hall at Aarhus Central Library.
