Wool Evening School — Hedestrik, Copenhagen

Wool Evening School at Hedestrik - learn to felt, dogma-knit, and plant-dye! The evening school runs over six Wednesdays from 09/09 to 14/10, 17:00-20:00. The first three Wednesdays feature instruction and structured tasks; the last three are open workshop sessions.

The teaching gives you the tools to create what you dream of in wool - your dream sweater, a new favourite jacket in wet felt, or that large woollen wall hanging you've always wanted. You can dream big at our evening school. Throughout the course, Hedestrik's premises are available as a wool workshop for your projects every Wednesday during shop hours.

The first three Wednesdays cover:

Dogma-knitting: A method where you knit directly from raw, long-fibred, unspun wool by drawing threads from the raw material. It's intuitive - anyone who can cast on and knit plain and purl stitches can learn dogma-knitting. You go from raw wool to finished product without a lengthy processing.

Wet felting: A fantastic technique for many things. You can felt in shape and make slippers, bags, or baskets. You can also felt sheets and sew them together into clothing, blankets, or something else. We'll try both approaches.

Plant dyeing: Plant dyeing is a universe of its own. We'll show that it can be both manageable and easy. All you need is three things: alum, wool, and plant material. We'll try sun-dyeing and boiling with plants found in Danish nature.

The last three Wednesdays feature open workshop with guidance, where you explore your new skills, work on your own projects, and test ideas and designs.
