Sheep, Heathland and Biodiversity

Shepherd Berit Kiillerich has spent decades caring for the Jutland heath with grazing sheep instead of machines. At Pakhusstrik, she shares stories about the role of sheep in nature management and the interplay between landscape, biodiversity, and human activity.

The lecture covers the shepherd's daily work throughout the year and the challenges facing nature management today: fewer farmers make fields available for winter grazing, and animals are increasingly replaced by machines. Berit also highlights wool as a resource - from sheep on the heath to yarn, textiles, and craftsmanship in a circular system where materials are used and reused.
