Sortehusene - a Refuge on Stige Ø

The houses on Stige Ø were built from whatever materials could be found - primarily driftwood - and the primitive conditions without water, electricity or sewage did not deter people from settling there. The area was popular, and some residents lived in the houses year-round, until the small refuge was cleared in 1967 and the residents had to move.
