Mushroom Foraging Tour in Store Dyrehave
Parkering til skovtur i Hillerød, Hillerød · 100–350 kr. · ≈ 13–47 €
Biologist and foraging expert Klara Rask from Vilde Råvarer guides this mushroom walk in Store Dyrehave. The forest is very old and has never been cultivated for agriculture, giving nature a special quality and excellent conditions for mushrooms. You may be lucky to find Common Chanterelle, Funnel Chanterelle, Porcini, and many other edible mushrooms.
The walk begins with an introduction and continues as a forest hike, where Klara explains what you find along the way: season, habitat, identifying features, and toxic look-alikes. Both edible, inedible, and poisonous mushrooms are covered, along with tips for improving your chances of a successful forage. At the end, you'll review the day's finds, and baskets can be checked through if desired. The walk lasts 2-3 hours and ends at the same place it starts.
Children aged 5-13 are welcome with a child ticket for 100 DKK. The walk is not suitable for pushchairs. Bring practical shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, a mushroom basket, and a small sharp knife - baskets and knives can be purchased as add-ons to your ticket.
Meeting point: Car park on Isterødvej, marked "Parkering til skovtur i Hillerød" on Google Maps. Note: the walk is a course with the primary aim of preparing participants for future foraging trips. There are always mushrooms to find, but no guarantee of a full basket. In case of severe drought, the walk may be cancelled or rescheduled to another date with the option of a refund (excluding fees).
