Raphaëlis: Sound of World Heritage #1 — Roskilde Domkirke, Roskilde

The Raphaëlis project is a collaboration between Roskilde Cathedral, the Royal Library, Kind Of Opera, and Concerto Copenhagen, mapping Roskilde's musical cultural history from the 17th to 18th centuries over the coming years. This concert is the first in the series.

The programme features vocal and instrumental music reflecting the era's ecclesiastical, pedagogical, and representational traditions - including Orazio Vecchi's Cantate Domini and works by Andreas Hammerschmidt and Mogens Pedersøn. Cathedral organist Bine Bryndorf performs works by Dietrich Buxtehude and improvisations on the historic Raphaëlis organ, whose pipes date from the 1500s.

Subsequent concerts in the series will explore topics such as church musical life, the city's secular concert traditions, and music's role in royal ceremonies.

Performers: Christine Nonbo Andersen (soprano), Anna Caroline Olesen (mezzo-soprano), Kristoffer Appel (tenor), David McCune (bass), Fredrik From and Hannah Tibell (violin), Bine Bryndorf (organ).
