Tech and Inequality

Award-winning gender researcher and former ethics director at one of the world's largest tech and media companies Tess Skadegård Thorsen gives a talk about how technology not only reflects inequality, but actively reinforces and creates it.

The talk examines how gender, sexuality, race, age and disability affect our interactions with chatbots, search engines and recommended streaming content. Along the way, the concepts of technochauvinism and glitch theory are introduced, and what it means in practice to revise an algorithm.
