Steen Kyed Trio feat. Mads Mathias

As part of the concert series 'Six Sundays at Bartof', Steen Kyed Trio collaborates with Jazz Danmark to present six Sunday concerts at Bartof Café in 2026 - a celebration of 100 years of Danish jazz. Each concert features the trio with a guest from the Danish jazz scene, alternating between original compositions and well-known classics.

This Sunday's guest is Mads Mathias on vocals and saxophone. Mathias is an internationally recognized crooner and songwriter who has toured the world and recently opened for the London Jazz Festival alongside Seal and Angelique Kidjo. He has performed at Royal Albert Hall during BBC Proms and received awards including Album of the Year for Vocals at the Danish Music Awards Jazz and an Honorable Mention at the International Songwriting Competition in the USA.

Steen Kyed Trio consists of Steen Kyed (guitar), Jon Bruland (bass), and Anders Pedersen (drums and percussion) - all three with roots in Danish jazz since the 1960s. The trio has released two albums: Udyr (2022) and Kravl (2025). Together they have performed and toured with musicians including Mikkel Nordsø, Fourplay, Guinga, John Abercrombie, Caroline Henderson, Anne Linnet, Palle Mikkelborg, Erann DD, Mossa Diallo, Alberte Winding, Sergio Mendes, Donna Summer, Nanna, and Pointer Sisters, among others.
