H.C. Andersen and the Journey of Life

H.C. Andersen's literary work constantly broke with the conventions of his time regarding genres and forms. His stories have been translated into more than 160 languages and contain both humour, fantasy, zest for life, shadows and eeriness - depicting a world in transformation marked by new inventions and a new Europe.

In the lecture, Professor Johannes N. Frandsen shows how Andersen's genius rests on four foundations: Christianity, natural science, folklore, and his own life journey.

About the venue: Festsalen i sognegården

The Festsal (banquet hall) is the main event space in Viborg Cathedral's parish hall, situated right next to Viborg Domkirke on Stænderpladsen. The building also houses meeting rooms, a café, and offices for the church staff. The hall regularly hosts the popular højskoleeftermiddage - afternoon lecture events with coffee, held on Tuesdays from September through May.
