Kill-Town Death Fest XI: Stages of Decay
A four-day death metal festival featuring 38 international bands, exclusive performances, and merchandise at Copenhagen's Pumpehuset.
Abhorrence is a Finnish death metal band formed in Tampere in 1989, counting guitarist Tomi Koivusaari - later of Amorphis - and bassist Jussi Ahlroth among its founders. They lasted just one year in their original run, releasing the "Vulgar Necrolatry" demo and a self-titled 7" EP on Seraphic Decay Records before splitting in 1990. Despite that brief existence, they are widely regarded as one of the founding acts of Finnish death metal. The band reunited in 2013 and, with drummer Waltteri Väyrynen joining in 2016, has been active again with new recordings.
Abhorrence released the single "Old Age, Sickness and Death Metal" on August 15, 2025 via Svart Records - a tribute to the death metal genre's 40th anniversary.
The band performed a concert at Pumpehuset in Copenhagen on September 3, 2025.
Abhorrence headlined a death metal evening at Bar Loose in Helsinki in April 2024 in collaboration with Helsinki Metal Festival.
