Bremer/McCoy
Copenhagen jazz duo blending melodic jazz with dub aesthetics and minimalist soundscapes. An organic, meditative sound world built on double bass and tape-loop effects.
Bremer/McCoy are a Copenhagen-based duo of double bassist Jonathan Bremer and pianist/keyboardist Morten McCoy, who have played together since 2012. Their wordless music sits at the intersection of melodic jazz, dub and minimalism, recorded entirely to tape with no computers involved. Since their debut Enhed (2013), they have released six studio albums - the last three on David Byrne's Luaka Bop label - and built a devoted international following, with admirers including Nils Frahm and BBC broadcaster Gilles Peterson.
Bremer/McCoy performed a four-day residency at Dansepavillon at CPH Jazz Festival 2026 - several of the concerts were sold out.
The duo performed at Porgy & Bess in Vienna as part of their European tour in spring 2026.
Bremer/McCoy toured in the United Kingdom with the Kosmos album, including two evenings at St. Pancras Old Church in London.
Sixth studio album Kosmos was released on September 6, 2024 on Luaka Bop - recorded live on tape in one take without post-production.
AllMusic describes Kosmos as the duo's third Luaka Bop album and highlights that it was recorded live on tape with McCoy manipulating the sound in real time.
