Christian Øland is a Danish conductor born in 1994 who entered the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki at 18 and was appointed assistant conductor of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra after just one year of study. From the 2025/26 season he holds two permanent chief posts simultaneously: chief conductor of Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester and General Music Director of Theater Magdeburg and the Magdeburg Philharmonic. He is currently the only Dane serving as chief conductor of a Danish symphony orchestra. In 2016 he received the Carl Nielsen Talent Prize from the Danish Conductors' Association.
Øland's contract as general music director for Theater Magdeburg came into effect on August 28, 2025.
