
DR Pigekoret in the Dark
DR Pigekoret performs in darkness at Koncertsalen Alsion in Sønderborg, with a programme about people and moments we carry with us.
DR Pigekoret (the Danish Radio Girls' Choir) is a professional girls' choir founded in 1938 as part of Danmarks Radio, Denmark's national broadcaster. Around 50 singers aged 15-22 make up the ensemble, which is widely regarded as one of the world's finest girls' choirs. Charlotte Rowan has led the choir as chief conductor since 2023. Its repertoire ranges from traditional Danish hymns and folk songs to contemporary choral works and pop arrangements.
DR Pigekoret conducted a USA tour with Den Danske Strygekvartet in six cities - from Santa Barbara to Carnegie Hall in New York and Washington D.C. - with sold-out halls.
The world premiere of David Lang's new work 'in wildness', written especially for DR Pigekoret and Den Danske Strygekvartet, took place at DR Koncerthuset on March 14, 2026.
DR Pigekoret's Christmas concerts 2025 at DR Koncerthuset received royal participation for the first time under Queen Mary's patronage, and the Norwegian ensemble Barokksolistene participated.
DR Pigekoret participated in the official commemoration of the 80th anniversary of Denmark's liberation at Mindelunden and at events during Denmark's EU presidency in 2025.
Charlotte Rowan took over the position of chief conductor of DR Pigekoret in August 2023 after Phillip Faber, who led the choir from 2013 to 2023.
