
Sunday Concert: The Ukrainian Tone
Danish-Ukrainian pianist Elisabeth Holmegaard Nielsen explores the Ukrainian tone in classical music through stories and piano examples spanning from Central European classics to contemporary voices.
Elisabeth Holmegaard Nielsen (born 1993 in Dianalund, Denmark) is a Danish-Ukrainian pianist who completed her soloist postgraduate diploma in 2017 after studies in Copenhagen and Vienna. She has won prizes at competitions across Denmark, the Netherlands, Austria, Portugal and Italy, received the Léonie Sonning Talent Prize in 2016, and released two critically acclaimed albums on the Danacord label. She performs recitals and concertos throughout Europe and China, and co-founded the association Nielsen Saloner to support young musicians and promote Danish and Ukrainian repertoire.
Elisabeth Holmegaard Nielsen gave a solo recital at Simon Peters Church in Copenhagen with works by Schubert and Rued Langgaard.
