Filthy Luker is the alias of Bristol-based artist Luke Egan, who has been making giant inflatable sculptures for public spaces since the mid-1990s alongside collaborator Pete Hamilton (Pedro Estrellas). Together they run the inflatable design company Designs in Air, and are internationally known for works such as Octopus Attack - enormous tentacles bursting from building windows - and Googly Eyes, which give city trees an uncanny stare. Their site-specific, temporary installations have appeared at festivals, in streets and in museums across the world.
The installation 'Kraken Crossing' - giant blue tentacles bursting out of a building on Washington Street - was the centerpiece of the Winteractive exhibition in downtown Boston from January to March 2026.
Filthy Lukers Giant Tentacles was part of Balloon Museum's touring exhibition, which in 2025 visited Austin, San Francisco, Paris (Grand Palais) and Singapore.
The duo contributed the Googly Eyes installation to the Phish Mondegreen Festival in Dover, Delaware in August 2024.
Filthy Lukers' inflatable eyes installation was displayed in Guoling Nature Park in Kaohsiung, Taiwan as part of an art promotion campaign.
Balloon Museum opened in Miami with Filthy Lukers Giant Tentacles as one of the most recognizable works in the exhibition.
