Hudaki Village

About

Hudaki Village Band are nine musicians from the village of Nyzhnje Selyshche in Ukrainian Transcarpathia, founded in 2001. Their name comes from the local dialect word for a village musician - a hudak - and their repertoire draws on an oral tradition shaped by centuries of Ukrainian, Jewish, Romanian and Roma coexistence. The band has performed at major festivals across more than 12 European countries and recorded a concert for the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. in 2023.
