About
Huun-Huur-Tu is a Tuvan musical ensemble founded in 1992 in the Republic of Tuva, a Siberian region of Russia on the border with Mongolia. The group is internationally known for khöömei, the traditional throat-singing technique in which a single singer produces several pitches at once, and for playing on traditional Tuvan instruments such as the igil and khomus. Since their 1993 debut album '60 Horses in My Herd' they have toured globally and collaborated with artists including Frank Zappa, Ry Cooder, the Kronos Quartet and, more recently, Dhani Harrison.
