Goran Bregović is a Bosnian-Serbian composer and musician, born on 22 March 1950 in Sarajevo. He first made his name as the lead guitarist and creative force behind Bijelo Dugme, one of the most popular rock bands in SFR Yugoslavia, before gaining international recognition for his film scores - above all his collaborations with director Emir Kusturica on 'Underground' (Palme d'Or, 1995) and 'Arizona Dream'. Touring the world with his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra, he weaves Balkan folk, Roma brass and rock into a sound that has filled Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and l'Olympia.
