Fire, Water, Earth, Air
Documentary screening and panel discussion on climate crisis and community resilience, featuring filmmaker Phie Ambo, researcher Nina Baron, and local climate activist Signe Schrøder.
Ilden, Vandet, Jorden, Luften (Fire, Water, Earth, Air) is a 2026 Danish documentary directed by Phie Ambo alongside Nordic co-directors Ewa Cederstam, Janne Lindgren and Rógvi Rasmussen. The film visits four communities across Denmark, Sweden, Norway and the Faroe Islands, each grappling with a different face of the climate crisis - from rising sea levels on the small Danish island of Skarø to forest fires, landslides and violent storms. Phie Ambo, a graduate of the National Film School of Denmark and winner of the Robert Award and IDFA's top prize, has spent over a decade making films about humanity's relationship with nature. The film had its world premiere at CPH:DOX on 12 March 2026.
The film had a wide cinema premiere in Denmark on April 23, 2026 and received reviews in, among others, Information, Ekko and Soundvenue.
Fire, Water, Earth, Air had its world premiere at CPH:DOX on March 12, 2026 at Grand Teatret in Copenhagen.
The film was nominated for the NORDIC:DOX AWARD at CPH:DOX 2026.
The film's concept deliberately limited its carbon footprint: each of the four film crews filmed exclusively in their own country to avoid travel across borders.
The film is scheduled for subsequent broadcast on the Nordic public service channels DR, NRK, SVT and Yle.
