Screening of the Documentary "Fire, Water, Earth, Air" by Director Phie Ambo

Forest fires spread, seas rise, storms intensify, and landscapes transform. Climate change is no longer something happening far away-it is here now, including in Denmark and the Nordic region. Nature sends us clear signals. The question is whether, and how, we listen.

The film "Fire, Water, Earth, Air" takes us to four Nordic communities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, and the Faroe Islands-including the small Danish island of Skarø. It examines what happens when crisis arrives at our doorstep, and reveals that the most important resource is community: the people living next to us and the bonds we share across the Nordic region. Through the everyday lives of ordinary people, in dialogue with science, the film shows how we can navigate crises when we choose to stand together. It is a hopeful story about how our old connections to nature and to each other can help us find new shared answers in a changing world.

The film will likely raise many questions about what we are already doing-and especially what we can do locally to reduce or address climate change as effectively as possible.

After the screening, there will be an opportunity to ask questions to a panel consisting of Ulrik Sejrsdal (chair of the Planning, Environment and Rural Affairs Committee), Jacob Skjødt Nielsen (Green Ambassador and green transition in Køge Municipality), Curt Yde or Susi Søgaard (Citizens' Group for Energy and Climate), and director Phie Ambo, who will also participate in the panel discussion.

The event is free for DN members, but you must confirm your attendance by 31 July. Alternatively, tickets can be purchased through the library's website for 50 kr.
