About

Jonathan Bremer is a Copenhagen-based bassist and composer, best known as one half of the duo Bremer/McCoy alongside pianist Morten McCoy. The two former schoolmates have been building their own sound since 2012 - a slow-burning mix of dub, modal jazz and Nordic folk - and broke through internationally after signing to David Byrne's Luaka Bop label. Bremer won the Danish critics' prize Steppeulven in the 'Musician of the Year' category, and before the duo formed he was a sought-after session bassist at Copenhagen's Montmartre club, playing alongside Niels Lan Doky and David Sanborn.
