Marko Hietala (born 14 January 1966 in Tervo, Finland) is a Finnish heavy metal musician best known as the bassist and male vocalist of symphonic metal band Nightwish, with whom he performed from 2001 to 2021. He has also led the Finnish metal band Tarot since 1984, and has released two solo albums on Nuclear Blast: "Pyre of the Black Heart" (2020) and "Roses from the Deep" (February 2025). His deep, distinctive voice and darkly personal songwriting have made him one of the most recognisable figures in Nordic metal.
