Nordkraft Big Band is a 17-piece big band from Aalborg, founded in 2010 by local musicians to champion rhythmic music in northern Jutland. Rooted in the European and American big band tradition, the ensemble actively pursues new directions - collaborating over the years with John Clayton, Bob Mintzer, Robben Ford and Remy Le Boeuf, among others. In February 2026, the band shared in a Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for "First Snow", a piece from the album "Silent Course" recorded with chief conductor Remy Le Boeuf and vocalist Danielle Wertz. The band is supported by the Danish Ministry of Culture, the Danish Arts Foundation and the City of Aalborg.
Nordkraft Big Band won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for the piece "First Snow" at the 68th Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on February 1, 2026, in collaboration with conductor Remy Le Boeuf and vocalist Danielle Wertz.
On October 10, 2025, Nordkraft Big Band released the album "Everyday Synesthesia: Sonic Pictures", created in collaboration with DMA-winning musician and composer Rasmus Holm.
On November 23, 2025, Nordkraft Big Band organized the very first Northern Jutland Big Band Day, where 125 big band musicians of all ages from all over Northern Jutland gathered for workshops and joint performances.
The album "Silent Course" with Nordkraft Big Band, Remy Le Boeuf and Danielle Wertz was released on April 25, 2025 on Gateway Music.
In March 2026, Nordkraft Big Band performed two concerts with American pianist and composer John Beasley - in Holstebro and at Musikkens Hus in Aalborg.
