About

Ouverture is a production by Teatergruppen Batida, a Danish theatre company founded in 1985 in Copenhagen by a group of musical actors. Based at their own theatre house in the Nordvest district, Batida has toured in more than 45 countries across over 100 international tours. The show, created in 2001, weaves physical theatre and live music into a comic and poetic story about life inside a peculiar orchestra, and can be performed indoors or outdoors for audiences aged 10 and up.

    Søren Valente Ovesen, co-founder, playwright and artistic director of Batida, died on 8 July 2025, 74 years old.

  • 2025-04

    In April 2025, Batida sent an open letter to Culture Minister Jakob Engel-Schmidt about unjustified rejections from the State Arts Foundation.

  • 2025-02

    Batida visited Elværket in Frederikssund with the performance Solo for two in February 2025.

  • 2024

    Batida entered into a four-year extension of the agreement with Copenhagen Municipality on free neighborhood theater in Nordvest, Brønshøj, Husum and Tingbjerg.
