Papaya

About

Papaya is an 18-voice Copenhagen choir that has specialised in South African choral music since 1986, ranging from Zulu war songs to wedding songs and freedom anthems. Founded at Krogerup Højskole by Rikke Forchhammer, the choir has toured South Africa, Tanzania, England, Germany, the Netherlands and Norway, and has performed for Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu. Their repertoire is built up through direct study with South African choirs and musicians, and every song is presented with its cultural and historical context.
