About

Prince Rogers Nelson (1958-2016) was an American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist from Minneapolis who played nearly every instrument on his own records, pioneering what became known as the Minneapolis Sound. His 1984 album Purple Rain - the Academy Award-winning soundtrack to a semi-autobiographical film - made him a global superstar, and he went on to release more than 40 studio albums over his career. With over 150 million records sold worldwide, he is widely regarded as one of the most influential musicians in pop history.
