Swedish pianist Roland Pöntinen performs a solo recital of works by Chopin, Fauré, Liszt and Debussy at Frederiksberg Festspil.
Roland Pöntinen is a Swedish pianist and composer, born in Stockholm in 1963, who made his debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in 1981. He is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and received the royal Litteris et Artibus medal in 2001. With more than 100 recordings on labels including BIS, Philips and EMI, he ranks among the most prolific classical pianists of his generation, covering a repertoire that runs from Bach to Ligeti and takes in many rarely heard works.
Pöntinen released the album Autumn Aubade in 2025, the latest in a long series of chamber music recordings.
The album Mot d'Amour: Elgar Works for Violin and Piano was released in 2024 as part of Pöntinen's ongoing collaboration with violinists.
The recording Szymanowski: Mythes - Music for Violin & Piano was released in 2023.
Russian Ballads: Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Kissin was released in 2022 and testifies to Pöntinen's continued interest in Russian piano music.
