About

Sara Parkman is a Swedish folk musician, violinist and singer, born on 7 May 1989 in Västernorrland. Trained at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, she has since her 2016 solo debut reshaped what folk music can sound like, weaving traditional Swedish melodies together with electronics, heavy beats and Gregorian chant. She co-founded the record label Supertraditional and is widely regarded as a leading figure in the Nordic folk revival. Her album Vesper (2019) earned her a Swedish Grammy nomination and the Dagens Nyheter Culture Prize; in 2023 she won the Swedish Grammy for Folk Music of the Year.
