Scrumpy - 50th Anniversary Concert - Irish/Scottish
Scrumpy celebrates 50 years with an anniversary concert of traditional Irish and Scottish music - reels, jigs and beautiful airs.
Scrumpy is a Copenhagen-based band founded in 1976 that plays traditional Irish and Scottish music - reels, jigs, hornpipes and songs. The lineup includes Allan Aasbjerg, Steen Aasbjerg, Jørgen Hanskov, Lars Kofoed and Torben Kure, and the name is borrowed from a potent English cider. Among Danish folk audiences the band is perhaps as well known for its running tally of farewell concerts - now past 121 - as for the music itself.
Scrumpy performed live on Danmarks Radio on 27 March 1987 at FolkKlubben - the recording has since been digitalized and made available online.
