Scrumpy - 50th Anniversary Concert - Irish/Scottish · Bartof Café, Frederiksberg
Description was written before the event

Scrumpy celebrates 50 years as a band - counting from autumn 1976, when they performed for the first time and actually got paid for it. After the bar tab was settled, there wasn't much left. It's been more expensive since.

Scrumpy is also the name of a sharp West Country cider, but also of a band that primarily plays traditional Irish and Scottish music: reels, jigs, hornpipes, beautiful airs and catchy (incomprehensible) songs - with the occasional Danish tune sneaking in. The band also holds an unofficial Danish record for the number of farewell concerts; with the upcoming shows they're approaching 121.

The band consists of Allan Aasbjerg (guitar/banjo/vocals), Steen Aasbjerg (flutes), Jørgen Hanskov (violin), Lars Kofoed (harmonica) and Torben Kure (guitar/cittern/vocals/mandolin).
