Sønderjysk Pigekor

About

Sønderjysk Pigekor (South Denmark Girls' Choir) is an elite choir based in Sønderborg, founded in 1994 and led since 1997 by chief conductor Mette Rasmussen. Around 270 singers span age groups from toddlers to adults, with the Concert Choir - 70-80 girls aged 11-21 - having toured Canada, the USA and China and regularly representing the region at official events, including for the Danish Royal House. The choir's core repertoire is classical choral music, though it also ventures into folk song and cross-genre projects, most notably a long-running collaboration with indie ensemble Efterklang, backed by the Danish Arts Foundation.
