Stiig Markager is a Danish professor of marine biology at Aarhus University. His research focuses on coastal water quality, oxygen depletion and nutrient pollution, and he is one of Denmark's most prominent voices on the state of the marine environment. He has worked extensively on the ecological challenges facing Danish fjords and bays.
