The Bulgarian Voices Angelite
The Bulgarian Voices Angelite, a Bulgarian vocal ensemble, gives a concert at Skt. Lukas Kirke in Aarhus on 21 October 2026 at 20:00.
The Bulgarian Voices Angelite is a female choir from Sofia that emerged in the early 1990s as an independent ensemble from the state television choir founded in 1952. Their sound is built on open-throated, nearly dissonant harmonies and an absence of vibrato - a style rooted in centuries of Bulgarian folk tradition. Since their international breakthrough in Bremen in 1987, they have performed on every continent, including at the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in Oslo (1996), on Red Square in Moscow, and at the Vatican, earning two Grammy nominations along the way. Collaborations with Huun-Huur-Tu, the Moscow Art Trio, and Bobby McFerrin, alongside more than 13 albums on the German label JARO Medien, have cemented their place as one of the foremost ensembles in world choral music.
The legendary live album 'Legend Disc1+2' with Huun-Huur-Tu and Moscow Art Trio was made available as a digital download via Bandcamp for the first time on September 2, 2025.
The choir performed three evenings at Grundtvigs Church in Copenhagen in November 2025 - two of the three concerts were sold out.
The choir is on an autumn tour 2026 with the number 'Listni se goro' on the program and performs among others in Gothenburg (October 23) and Oslo (October 24).
On October 18, 2026, the choir performs at the Ethno Jazz Festival in Wroclaw, Poland, in the Gothic hall of Stary Klasztor.
